At COP16 Riyadh, SamaBio proudly represented Somalia’s growing environmental initiatives by showcasing our innovative approach to combating deforestation and promoting sustainable energy alternatives. As part of the Somalia Pavilion, our participation was driven by the mission to introduce biomass briquettes as an eco-friendly cooking fuel—an initiative that directly addresses the urgent need to reduce reliance on traditional firewood and charcoal.

Empowering Communities Through Innovation

SamaBio’s core mission centers around harnessing agricultural waste and turning it into biomass briquettes, providing Somali households with a cleaner, affordable, and more sustainable alternative to wood fuel. This solution not only curbs deforestation but also reduces waste, contributing to both climate resilience and economic empowerment.

During our presentations at COP16, we engaged with stakeholders, policymakers, and environmental advocates, sharing our manufacturing process, environmental benefits, and community impact. Our team highlighted how this project has already started to mitigate deforestation, lessen land degradation, and empower rural communities with job opportunities.

Key Highlights from Our COP16 Presence

1.Engagement and Collaboration – We connected with international organizations, fostering partnerships that aim to scale SamaBio’s briquette production and expand distribution networks across Somalia.

2.Knowledge Sharing – SamaBio led discussions on the importance of sustainable biomass solutions in reducing carbon footprints and preserving Somalia’s fragile ecosystems.

3.Interactive Demonstrations – Attendees at the Somalia Pavilion had the opportunity to witness the briquetting process firsthand, exploring how agricultural residues are transformed into compact, energy-efficient briquettes.

Building a Greener Future

Our presence at COP16 reinforced SamaBio’s commitment to a greener, more resilient Somalia. Through innovation and dedication, we continue to work towards a future where clean energy solutions drive economic growth while preserving our environment for generations to come.

We thank the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia for providing the platform at COP16 and look forward to continuing our journey towards sustainable development.
